Infiniti is recalling a few hundred 2014 model-year Q50 and Q70 hybrid sedans to fix an issue with their transmissions.
The recall includes just 817 cars, all of which are being scrutinized because of concerns they may have been assembled with transmission housings that were damaged during manufacturing.

The housings could potentially crack during normal use, creating debris that might damage other parts of the car, or scatter onto the road and pose a hazard to other vehicles.
Infiniti dealers will inspect the transmission assemblies of affected cars and replace them free of charge if cracks are found.

The process of conducting inspections and replacing parts is expected to begin later this month.
Affected Infiniti Q50 Hybrid models were built between October 16, 2013, and January 27, 2014, while Q70 Hybrid models covered under the recall were built between November 7, 2013, and December 10, 2013.

The Q70 Hybrid is the model formerly known as the Infiniti M35h. It was renamed for 2014 as part of the Japanese luxury brand’s new naming scheme.
The Q50, on the other hand, is a new model for 2014. It was meant to replace the Infiniti G sedan, although certain versions of that model remain on sale with Q40 badging.
The hybrid versions of the Q50 and Q70 use essentially similar powertrains
