The Renault-Nissan Alliance strikes again. This time it’s an agreement with Monaco to expand and improve their existing charging networks for electric vehicles. Additional incentives will be provided to consumers and businesses to encourage the purchase of EVs and educational programs will be initiated to raise interest.
“The reality of zero emission mobility can only be achieved through credible products and the appropriate infrastructure. The Alliance will be mass marketing the product and we welcome forward thinking partners like the principality of Monaco to create the infrastructure and conditions for success,” said Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
Notice a pattern? Nissan wants to put electric vehicles on the roads. They realize that without government support, their EVs will be useless because charging infrastructure and consumer incentives won’t exist. The strategy? Partner with as many public entities as possible to ensure that when EVs are ready for mass production, people will want them. Novel idea, but not quite as straightforward as begging for money from Capitol Hill.
