Electric-car ads typically emphasize efficiency and sustainability, but electric power offers other advantages too.
In “Easy Thrills,” its latest video ad for the Leaf plug-in, Nissan shows how an electric motor’s instantly-available torque can enliven the driving experience.
Unlike internal combustion engines, electric motors, don’t need to rev to produce maximum torque.

Since all of the motor’s torque is available at any speed, electric cars tend to be more responsive when pulling away from a stop.
With a relatively modest 107 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque, the Leaf may not win many drag races, but its more-responsive electric powertrain can still prove beneficial in everyday driving.
As demonstrated in the ad, it can be quite handy when merging onto a highway.

And this is just one of several new Nissan Leaf ads that go beyond touting its practical points like saving money on gas to showcase the Leaf’s special capabilities as a car.
In “Different,” Nissan claims the only difference between a Leaf and a comparable internal-combustion car is that it gets energy from a plug, not a pump.
“Rock It” tells the story of a Leaf owner who uses his electric car to carry some unusual cargo. If you’ve been wondering whether a complete drum set will fit in a Leaf, the answer is yes.

Finally, “Road Trip” addresses range anxiety with–you guessed it–a 107-mile trip from Los Angeles to Palm Springs.
That distance is covered in “one cup of coffee,” referring to one of the ways to spend time while stopping to recharge.
Of course, that’s assuming there’s a convenient DC fast-charging station en route within walking distance of that coffee shop.
