Energy Secretary Chu: Electric Vehicles InevitableEnergy Secretary Chu: Electric Vehicles Inevitable
Recently, Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu has been delivering a wave of commencement speeches at various universities. During a speech at CalTech last week, he is quoted as saying we needed to prepare for the “inevitable transition to electricity as the energy for our personal transportation.”
Inevitable.That one word probably sums up Secretary Chu’s level of commitment to nudging the transition from traditional fossil-fuel vehicles to less polluting, more efficient electric or alternative-fuel vehicles.
His stance on hydrogen fuel cells is well known (he finds them to be expensive and inefficient), so, not surprisingly, hydrogen didn’t get a mention in this speech.
