Hyundai To Update Sonata, Hybrid Model For 2014Hyundai To Update Sonata, Hybrid Model For 2014

Hyundai’s best-selling model in the U.S, the Sonata, is set to be revamped in 2014, to ensure it remains competitive with fresher competition like the 2013 Toyota Camry, 2013 Ford Fusion, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu and 2013 Honda Accord, all of which are new models.
Reuters has revealed (via Automotive News) that following the launch of the new Santa Fe this year, and a new Genesis in 2013, the Sonata will also see updates, the first for more than four years.
The new car should not only help ensure U.S. sales remain high, but will also be an important car in Hyundai’s Korean home market, where the company’s sales are coming under pressure from European and U.S. brands, as free trade deals reduce previous import restrictions.
Of most interest to GreenCarReports readers will be the possibility of an updated version of the Sonata Hybrid.
This will hopefully be more competitive than the current model, a car panned by Consumer Reports for its unrefined drivetrain.
It should also improve upon the current model’s already-impressive 40 MPG highway, 35 city and 37 MPG combined economy ratings, while offering the usual value that Hyundai buyers expect.
