According to Automotive News, Mitsubishi will increase production once again on its I-MiEV Electric Car.
Initially, Mitsubishi planned to make 20,000 units of the I-MiEV each year, but they have decided to rev up production to 30,000 units by 2013.
The announcement comes as no surprise as Mitsubishi begins the roll out of the I-MiEV throughout Europe, Japan, and the U.S.
This year, Mitsubishi plans to start out with a modest 2,000 units followed by 5,000 in 2010 with hopes of 30,000 by 2013. The only problem with increasing production is a lack of supply of battery components for the vehicles. Mitsubishi must wait for supplies to catch up before they can increase production.
Look for the first I-MiEVs to come to market in 2010.
