VW electric car sales plunge: Why are Europeans returning to petrol?

Today the Renault-Nissan Alliance upheld their new tradition of publicizing a zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) partnership every week or two. This time Nissan will collaborate with the Pima Association of Governments (PAG), which represents the Tucson, Arizona region. ECOtality, a Scottsdale, Arizona clean electric transportation company will also join forces with the group. The partnership is designed to spur the development of an electric vehicle charging network throughout the Tucson Metro Area.
“This partnership represents a major step toward making zero emissions a reality in the Tucson Metro Area,” said Dominique Thormann, senior vice president, administration and finance, Nissan North America. “The Tucson area long has been a leader in advanced technology and sustainability planning. We are looking forward to working with our partners in fostering the development and acceptance of electric vehicles as a smart, environmentally sound choice.”
The new partnership complements PAG’s Clean Cities Program which has already displaced millions of gallons of petroleum based fuels with alternative fuels like bio-diesel, natural gas and ethanol in the area.
With ZEV programs in Isreal, Denmark, Portugal, the Principality of Monaco, Japan, France, UK, Tennessee, Oregon, and Sonoma County California, it’s safe to say, Nissan will propose a ZEV partnership with as many government agencies as are willing to participate.
