Less than a week ago, we told you that hybrid drivers are more likely to get into accidents than non-hybrid drivers. Today, one Connecticut woman has become a mildly amusing example of this puzzling statistic.
State police have identified the driver of a Toyota Prius who ran into a utility pole in Ellington, Connecticut as 44-year-old, Susan Gagnon. Gagnon was driving on Route 286 in Ellington at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday night when she struck the pole, knocking out power to over 100 homes. Crews worked for eight hours to restore power to all customers.
Gagnon fled on foot, but police found her at home today, not far from where the accident occurred. She’s expected to appear in Superior Court in Rockville on August 3, where she’ll face charges of evading the scene of an accident.
No word on whether it was Gagnon’s intention to conserve the power that may have otherwise been used by the homes affected.
