Tesla Motors has confirmed that they will open seven new regional sales and services centers this summer. The new stores will be located in New York, Seattle, Chicago, Miami, London, Monaco and Munich. The New York, Chicago and London locations will all open within the next few weeks. The electric car company is also considering Washington D.C. and Toronto for future dealerships.
Tesla looks to Apple and Starbucks for inspiration to design their showrooms, offering perks like free web access to customers (as if test driving electric sports cars isn’t enough of a perk). “We are rethinking almost every aspect of the automobile – from the powertrain to the customer experience, both online and in our stores,” said CEO, Elon Musk. That’s a wise strategy for a company that currently only offers one vehicle at a price of over $100,000. Most of Musk’s customers will expect luxury and convenience.
With the new facilities, the continent’s one and only maker of highway-capable EVs will have a store for each strategic region of the United States (not to mention Europe), save for the Great Plains. How ironic would it be to open an EV store in say, Oil Springs, Texas?
