Since it bought the remains of Fisker Automotive last year, Chinese parts giant Wanxiang has promised to restart production of the Karma extended-range electric sedan.
And while Fisker hasn’t quite been brought back to life yet, it is at least beginning to twitch.
A new website for the carmaker was recently launched under the “New Fisker” banner, as Wanxiang tries reaching out to existing Karma owners.

The website marks the launch of a new Customer Support Program (CSP) for the Karma–which will provide service and parts, Fisker/Wanxiang says.
It includes a network of CSP service centers that owners can take their cars to. The website’s map shows 15 such centers.
Fisker will also provide up to $2,000 in parts and labor for covered repairs free or charge. Original owners get an additional $2,000 in parts and $1,000 in labor above that.

However, the CSP and the offer of free repairs is only in effect until January 31, 2016, or until funding allotted for the program runs out.
The extent of the Customer Support Program was explained in a recent letter sent out to Fisker owners.

The letter begins:
Dear (Insert owners name), Yes, we’re back! With superb financial and strategic support, we have assembled a world-class management team to re-launch the Karma and introduce future models. During the months and years to come, we will engage in an active relationship with Fisker Karma owners like you as well as future owners of our unique and innovative vehicles to come. And among the first steps in building this new relationship is the Karma Customer Support Program (CSP). Through this program, we are identifying authorized CSP providers who can assist you with your service and parts needs. Our parts inventory contains most everything your Karma might need for its operation, safety and appearance. CURRENT OWNERS As a current owner of a Fisker Karma, your CSP provider will provide parts and labor for covered repairs free of charge up to $2,000*.
Original owners who purchased their cars new from Fisker get additional free parts and labor, per the letter:
As an original owner of the Fisker Karma, you are entitled to additional CSP benefits of $2,000 for parts and $1,000 for labor for covered repairs above the Owners CSP benefits*. Your CSP provider can provide you with information about remaining CSP benefits. Look for our convenient CSP directory map on the TheNewFisker.com website. And while you’re there, I encourage you to register as an owner to make sure you stay up to date on all the latest news. Owners can register–and presumably determine what benefits they qualify for–through the New Fisker website by entering a car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
There’s already a hint of grumbling about the split between original-owner and secondhand-owner benefits on the Fisker Karma Owners Facebook group, but little discussion of the matter otherwise.
The new support program for existing Karma owners indicates Wanxiang may have rebuilt some bridges with former Fisker suppliers, many of which were alienated during the company’s abrupt production cessation and collapse.

The Karma was only produced as a 2012 model, and was plagued by quality issues during that short production run.
Wanxiang is reportedly pouring “millions” into relaunching Karma production, including fixing “about 250 bugs” and updating the car to meet current consumer expectations.
There’s stil no indication of when new cars will begin rolling off assembly lines, but Fisker outreach to existing owners shows the carmaker isn’t quite dead yet.
