With its prodigious power and sophisticated all-wheel drive system, the Tesla Model S P85D has already broken the egos of quite a few supercar drivers.
Now, this electric car is also breaking some machinery.
Dynamometers are machines to measure a car’s power output, using rollers spun by the driven wheels.

But the dyno in the video above just couldn’t handle the instant torque of the P85D, according to Drag Times.
This particular Model S owner tried rapidly accelerating from a slow roll to get a dyno reading.
Just after the car’s wheels start to spin up, there’s a troubling sound that puts an end to the proceedings.

Before the Model S broke it, the dyno recorded a brief torque output of more than 700 pound-feet.

The Model S P85D is rated by Tesla at 691 horsepower, but the carmaker won’t publish an official torque figure.
In another dyno test, though, a P85D registered 864 lb-ft–and without breaking a thing.

And regardless of the figures, the P85D’s multiple drag-race victories over various supercars and muscle cars are a testament to its performance prowess.

As if the car isn’t formidable enough already, Tesla has said it will launch a software update to improve performance, including raising the top speed from 130 mph to 155 mph.
Dynamometers beware.
