Zeekr 007: New Model 3 rival will be shown on November 17th

The teaser video and spy pictures show the sedan quite clearly

Zeekr, one of the premium brands of the Chinese Geely group, shows a teaser video for its new electric sedan. The model name Zeekr 007 is reminiscent of James Bond, and the film above also plays with images from the spy film series. The film appeared on Zeekr’s Weibo website , as well as various YouTube pages such as  VolvoPolestarVideoNews .

The Zeekr 007 was previously only known by the codename CS1E, reports CarNewsChina . Pre-sales for the new model are scheduled to start on November 17th, i.e. on Friday next week. The car will probably be unveiled on the same day – the first day of the Guangzhou Auto Show.

The wheelbase of 2,928 mm is a little shorter than the Zeekr 001 (2,999 mm), and the length of 4,865 mm is also slightly shorter. The height of 1,450 mm is also smaller. This means the car should compete against the Tesla Model 3 .

According to the media report, the car is based on a platform called PMA2+ , which we have never heard of before. This architecture was developed by Geely and Volvo; Polestar and Lotus also use them, as do “the third and fourth Smart models” and the Geely Galaxy E8 and E9, according to the report. 

The platform supports 800 volt systems. Mind you: This doesn’t necessarily mean that the Zeekr 007 has an 800-volt system. The SEA platform also supports 800 volts, but most versions of the Zeekr 001 have a 400 volt system (while the  001 FR has 800 volts ). However, the stated charging time of 30 minutes for a complete charge is very short.

The Zeekr 007’s drive is designed to be more bourgeois with 150 kW and 350 Nm of torque. This means the car needs 6.5 seconds for the standard sprint. For comparison: the base model of the Model 3 has 208 kW, but is not much faster in the sprint at 6.1 seconds. The electric mid-range sedan is the first Zeekr model to also have lidar technology: the sensors can be seen on the roof in the video. 

The silhouette of the car is vaguely reminiscent of the Tesla Model 3. However, the roofline only drops far back, after the C-pillar. This suggests good headroom in the rear. The light signature seen at the beginning of the video consists of just two lines of light, one on top of the other, that extend across the entire width. There is also a light line (here red) at the rear, but it is interrupted in the middle. There is also a glowing Zeekr lettering there.

Zeekr wants to come to Germany in 2024 with the small SUV Zeekr 00X  and the luxury crossover 001  (which has been on the market in China since 2021). An exact date for the Zeekr launch in Germany is not yet known. It also remains unclear whether 007 will also come to us. The large Van Zeekr 009 is also available in China.

In the first nine months of 2023, Zeekr sold almost 80,000 units in China. The bestseller is the Zeekr 001; it accounted for almost 70 percent of sales. The 009 and the X followed, with around 10,000 cars sold each.
