For the first time on an eCMP model, there are rocker switches for adjusting the recuperation

The Peugeot E-Rifter receives a facelift and significant technical changes. The electrically powered high-roof station wagon is the sister model of the Citroen e-Berlingo and the Opel Combo Electric.

The electric version of the Rifter came onto the market two years ago (still with a small e, i.e. e-Rifter). Now the French manufacturer is giving it a new exterior look, a new cockpit with rocker switches and more range. While the E-Rifter only managed around 280 km when it launched in autumn 2021 , it should now be 320 km according to WLTP, i.e. at least 40 km more.

But the model still has the well-known 50 kWh battery and the 100 kW drive. The car will not be converted to the new Stellantis system with 54 kWh and 115 kW . However, electricity consumption apparently fell; Peugeot doesn’t reveal how it did this and doesn’t give a value. So far, consumption was a generous 20.3 kWh/100 km for the basic version.

In any case, the settings for recuperation are new: for the first time in a Stellantis electric model based on the eCMP platform, three recuperation levels can be activated using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Previously, eCMP models only had a B mode for increased recuperation on the transmission selector switch (next to P, N, R and D). There is no picture of the new steering wheel with shift paddles yet. In addition, the new E-Rifter is now equipped with a heat pump, although according to the press release this depends on the respective market.

Charging in Germany is standard with a three-phase 11 kW on-board charger; Alternatively, you can charge the battery with up to 100 kW direct current. A charging stroke from 0 to 80 percent should take around 30 minutes. A complete charge on an 11 kW wallbox takes around 5h05.

As far as the look is concerned, the new version is most easily recognized by the new light signature with the three dots on each side – they represent the lion brand’s typical “claws”. But the grill was also modified and the new Peugeot logo was added. Sirkka Green  and Kiama Blue are added as new colors .

Inside, there’s an “all-new dashboard”; We have to believe Peugeot, because an interior picture is still missing. As before, the E-Rifter has an i-Cockpit, i.e. a small steering wheel with the instruments above it, not behind it. What is new, however, is the 10-inch touchscreen and the 10-inch instrument display. Peugeot also promises a new leather steering wheel with heating and control buttons. Also new is voice control, which is activated with “OK Peugeot”.

There is an inductive charging station for smartphones in the center console. There are also now more connections for cell phones etc.: two USB-C and one USB-A interfaces are on board, as well as a 230-volt socket.

For the first time, the driver assistance systems also include adaptive cruise control (ACC).
The parking assistants have been improved with 12 sensors all around as well as a high-resolution rear camera with a 180-degree view of the surroundings.

As usual, the car is available in two lengths: standard (4.40 m) and long (4.70 m). The latter has, above all, a larger wheelbase and thus offers more space in the interior. Both variants were previously five-seater as standard, with seven seats available as an option – it will probably be the same with the new version. In row two there are three individual seats that can also be folded down individually. Entry and exit are via two side sliding doors; There is also a large tailgate with a window that can be opened separately.

The trunk offers 775 liters for the standard version in five-seat configuration and up to 4,000 liters for the long version with the rear seats folded down and loading up to the roof.

Peugeot is not yet revealing when the modified E-Rifter will come onto the market or what it will cost. So far the old version can still be configured. The L1 Allure version then costs 41,970 euros.
